Community hero is the term used to describe a volunteer who goes above and beyond to make an impact in their local community. They may be known for their efforts to help those in need, or they might be a mentor who inspires others with their passion.
In a time when many social issues have taken center stage, community heroes are often on the front lines, providing much-needed services and support for their neighbors. They are the individuals who lead clean-up events, advocate for sustainability, and create green spaces to reduce the environmental footprint of their neighborhood. They are also the ones who ensure families do not go hungry by running food banks or hosting monthly meals.
Whether it is the first responder who drives the fire truck at your Opening Ceremonies or the dedicated teacher that spends their summer helping at your concession stand, these volunteers are a true example of what it means to be a community hero. Little League International honors these community heroes through our Community Heroes program Presented by New York Life, which provides recognition on their League’s social media platforms and at the World Series each year.
