Community hero is someone who makes a difference in his or her community. Examples of community heroes include firefighters, teachers and police officers. They are often praised by their peers, and they can receive special recognition from government programs. They may also be given financial support for homeownership to encourage them to live in the communities where they work, fostering stronger neighborhood connections.
Nominating a hero is an opportunity to recognize their efforts and let them know how much they’re appreciated. As a thank you, they’ll get four (4) tickets and four (4) pregame hospitality passes to a 2025 Beaver football game along with a gift pack sponsored by First Interstate Bank.
In addition to being a source of inspiration, heroes serve as a symbol of hope in times of tragedy. For example, when a natural disaster occurs, heros are often the first on the scene to provide assistance. They also represent the importance of values like compassion and selflessness.
On August 2, 2022, Partnerships for Parks and Photoville partnered to celebrate the everyday heroes of Bedford-Stuyvesant and Crown Heights through a public art installation at St. Andrew’s Playground. The community-organized event paired local photographers with inspiring individuals who have been tirelessly working to strengthen their neighborhood.
